    Integrated Gmail - Firefox Addon

Being a (relatively) new Google Voice user, I’m really glad to find this little gem.

Integrated GMail will modify your GMail Inbox to sit inside of a collapsible box.  You can then add other Google services, including Google Calendar, Reader, Tasks, Wave, Notebook, Groups, Maps, Picasa, Sites, News and Portfolio.  You can also create boxes to load a Custom URL, which will load in an iframe, with optional navigation buttons.

You can also include Google Gadgets, though there’s no interface to the Gadgets, you have to know the URL to the JavaScript source for the Gadget.  Getting this isn’t impossible, and the developer has a screencast on it here:
    http://integratedgmail.com/wiki/setup/how-to/add-gadget/
(The link mentioned in Step 1 on that site is exactly where to start.)

I do wish the developer made it so that you could just copy & paste the entire <script> tag for the Gadget in and then just parsed out the URL needed.  Maybe in a future version?

Integrated Gmail also adds 2 arrows to the page, one in the top right, one in the bottom left.  The top right will hide the Gmail header (with the links and search) and the bottom right will hide the left column in  Gmail.  I can see how this would be particularly useful on a screen with a small resolution.  Don’t think I’ll be using it much (since I run 1900×1200, on 2 monitors.;) ) but it will come in handy when I’m on a laptop for sure.

So what’s all that got to do with Google Voice?  Well, they don’t have Voice in the links across the top yet, and every time I wanna get there I have to open a new tab and type it in http://voice.google.com.  If it were a link in list of links across the top, I’d just CTRL+Click it to have it open in a new tab, which would appear under my Gmail tab (since I’m using the slick Tree Style Tab addon I found.)  But, since it’s not there, having the Integrated Gmail addon is really handy.  I’ve now got Voice showing above my Inbox, it loads collapsed by default.  When I need to get to it, it’s right there.  I don’t even have to leave Gmail!

You can grab Integrated Gmail from Mozilla’s Firefox addon page here:

Integrated Gmail has its own (really nice!) website too, located here:
